5 Things to Know About Being a Photo Coach for a Full-Time or Part-Time Income

My career as a photo coach spans almost 30 years and this is a great time to start a business for a part-time income or full-time career. This business opportunity isn’t well known, but it’s needed and it’s possible to make a satisfying income.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Photos are being taken in record numbers

People are taking more photos than ever, according to these numbers from Photutorial.com.

In 2021, 1.2 trillion photos were taken worldwide.

In 2022, expect the total to reach 1.72 trillion photos.

By 2025, it’s projected that more than 2 trillion photos will be taken.

Smartphone users in the U.S. lead the world in taking pictures—shooting about 20 per day. The Asian Pacific region accounts for about 15 pictures taken on smartphones daily.

Add in the number of videos taken and older photos in traditional scrapbook albums and you can understand point 2:

2. Users are overwhelmed as storage devices fill up

How many photos and videos are stored on your smartphone? It’s like the old adage, “It’s much easier to get into something than it is to get out of something.”

We don’t just snap photos of vacations, back-to-school mornings, or other memory-making moments. Everyday routines become events. How many times have you taken pics of products at Lowes, Home Depot, or the grocery store to compare prices and sizes?

It’s easy to get the image onto your phone but getting them off is entirely different.

Sure, you can upload to social media but you don’t want to flood your feed with meaningless pictures. Plus, as you’ll read below, social media isn’t a long-term solution for the pics you want to keep.

3. Families have old media files scattered

Here’s another reason photo coaching is a great home-based business or addition to a professional’s existing portfolio. So many of our photos are scattered digitally and physically. VHS tapes collect dust on closet shelves or lay forgotten in storage containers.

Thumb drives fill up and external hard drives, pictured above, get lost.

What do I do as a photo coach?

I show my clients how to bring everything together into one place. Plus, I give a strategy to organize their media. I can show you how to do the same thing.

4. Social media platforms and low monthly rental sites aren’t reliable long-term

It’s fun to snap pics using your favorite social media platform. I mainly use Facebook while friends are telling me to get on Instagram and businesses are forging ahead on Tik Tok.

What’s your favorite social media platform?

They help connect users and they’re free—except “free” comes with a catch. Your data is used for marketing and advertising purposes. Plus, you’re using the space for free, or if you’re a business, you might pay to boost a post now and then, but the platforms have their Terms of Service and you have no say in how those are enforced.

Ever known someone to get their account locked temporarily or even get shadow banned for a few days? It can happen for the most innocent of reasons.

Plus, you can’t digitize your older media files and easily upload to social media.

The solution you offer to clients as a photo coach is showing them how to put their most meaningful memories into one private, secure place.

5. Gathering all your media in one permanent place safeguards your memories

I started my photo coaching career 27 years ago when I was a young mother who left the corporate world to stay home with my two young children. I’ve always used the best solutions on the market to help my clients preserve their photos and tell their stories.

But never before has there been a platform like FOREVER®, which I’ve made an essential part of my business. I can truly tell clients that they can safeguard their memories safely—and permanently.

Here’s a show and tell. This is a photo of my grandmother when she was 4 years old. It’s in the same digital home as photos of my most recent vacations.

My great-grandchildren, and their children, will be able to view this photo many years from now.

FOREVER® makes it easy to:

Digitize all your old media and place them into your digital home—everything from 8mm home movies and slide shows to VHS tapes and traditional scrapbook albums.

A phone app makes uploading your current photos and videos convenient, plus you can easily upload from any device like laptops, desktop computers, and iPads.

Now you can store all of your most meaningful memories in one place that’s permanent and safe.
